Dr. Toni Zhong is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon in Toronto, Canada. She has dedicated her career to breast cancer reconstruction and in the process has helped countless women restore their confidence and body image in their breast cancer journey. 

 

Throughout her career which involves long hours spent in the operating room, Dr. Zhong experienced firsthand the toll that traditional cotton surgical caps took on her hair health, leading to her own battle with alopecia.  She looked everywhere for a better alternative to cotton surgical caps, but none was found. 

 But what happens when you tell a surgeon no?  Well…..  Dr. Zhong made her own. 

Combining her creativity and entrepreneurial vision, Dr. Zhong designed and made her own 100% silk surgical scrub caps. These beautifully crafted and luxurious surgical caps quickly grabbed the attention of her surgical colleagues and OR nurses.

Recognizing that long hours in cotton surgical caps can cause a myriad of hair problems in health professionals, Dr. Zhong founded Medsilk, a line of surgical caps designed to provide a gentle alternative. MedSilk caps not only prevent hair breakage but also prioritize comfort and breathability during extended surgical procedures.
